Go Forth production this weekend

COIL 2016

GO FORTH, a powerful theatre piece on loss, grief, and ritual that incorporates projection, sound, text, and movement will be held this weekend at Wesleyan.

There are four opportunities to see this show — Friday, September 16 at 7pm and 10pm or Saturday, September 17 at 2pm and 8pm. Seating for each performance is limited to 65.
Two performances will feature post-show talkbacks moderated by Wesleyan faculty: Friday’s 7pm performance by Gina Athena Ulysse (Anthropology) and Saturday’s 8pm performance by Marcela Oteiza (Theater), both providing a great way to learn more about this intriguing work.
As always, student tickets are only $6 and Wesleyan faculty/staff/alumni tickets are $26. More details on the CFA performances are available at http://wesleyan.edu/cfa/index.html.

Music 463: Teaching Music to Children in Local Schools

This is a great opportunity for Wesleyan students to contribute to music education in the Middletown Schools. We meet once a week as a group (Monday, 4:15-5:45), and on another day our students teach private music lessons to local kids at Green Street Arts Center, as well as other venues. The course is part of the Certificate Program in the Study of Education. It is also very much undersubscribed this time around, so be sure to check it out!

New Section added for Introduction to Dance course

What: DANC 111 (section 3) Introduction to Dance
When: Mon / Wed 2:50 – 4:20 PM
Where: Pine Street Studio, 247 Pine St
With: Pedro Alejandro

This is an introduction to dance as a mode of inquiry for students with no formal dance training. In a communal, highly engaged atmosphere students explore improvisation, composition, analysis and multiple approaches to the moving body. The course prepares students to continue on technically, creatively and intellectually in the discipline of dance.

Please feel free to contact Pedro at palejandro@wesleyan.edu, or me at nstanton@wesleyan.edu, if you have further questions

Apply for a Writing Mentor!

Apply for a Writing Mentor!

A Writing Mentor is a writing tutor who will work steadily with you one-on-one for a full semester to help you improve your writing. Many students prefer this arrangement over alternatives such as the Writing Workshop since the Mentor program helps foster a close relationship between the student and tutor while giving the student an opportunity to receive consistent feedback on their academic writing for about 45 minutes each week over the course of the semester.

The deadline to apply for a mentor is Monday, September 19th at 8:00 AM, and you can find complete information on the “Apply for a Writing Mentor” page on the Writing Workshop website (along with a link to the application).
